Kampot is usually known for pepper farms and riverside sunsets. Fewer people know it also holds some of the best limestone climbing in Cambodia, near Kbal Romeas. We're launching this as a new day trip, in partnership with Climbodia. No experience needed, just a decent level of fitness and a full day to give to it.
The Climb
Limestone is sharp and textured, full of holds that seem to appear exactly when you need one. Kbal Romeas has quietly built a name among regional climbers for that reason. Beginners start on easier lines, guided the whole way. Experienced climbers get routes worth the trip alone. Most people come down from that first climb a little surprised at themselves, and that feeling tends to outlast the trip.
The Cave Nobody Expects
Just as your legs are still buzzing, the day shifts. Phnom Chhngok Cave sits nearby, cool and dim, holding a small pre-Angkorian brick sanctuary standing for over a thousand years. Stepping in after a morning in the sun feels like stepping into a different century. Adrenaline and stillness, in the same afternoon.
